A digital art collage made to go with this essay by me arguing for more nuance when discussing the use of AI to create art. The essay covers the artistic side of the discussion as opposed to the moral ethical side. The discussion centers around whether any amount of AI use within a piece automatically reduces it to AI slop. The image consists of two, photographs - one with the background removed, three 3D models and one AI element: The faceless business man. This is an example of AI being used as a tool with the same, if not less weight in the final image, than photography and 3D modeling, etc. In the linked essay I argue that say, 10% of an image being AI does not automatically relegate it to the slop bucket.
