Two things got me into art more than anything else. The first was DC comics back in the seventies and then the expressionists, especially the Die Brucke group, who were working around the time of the first world war. The former made me want to draw and the latter made me realize that technique wasn't the be all and end all. A painting or drawing could affect me deeply regardless of whether the artist had full control over their paint brush or not.
I didn't go fully abstract until around a decade ago and was extremely productive within the abstract expressionism genre for around eight years.
Anyway, this is what I was the type of work I was producing to before I moved into digital art and collage work. I made the decision to put over a thousand of my paintings up for grabs. i.e. into the public domain. I have used free assets and software kindly provided by others for years and it seemed only fair to give something back.
